METEOR Summer Program
Mentored Experience to Expand Opportunities in Research
A unique summer research experience at Children's National Hospital
Our Program
-
Students are paired with a mentorship team for a seven week research, lab-based experience at Children's National. METEOR students are integrated into mentorship teams, collaborate on research, and build meaningful relationships.
-
DC is a hub of biomedical research. In addition to a lab experience, METEOR students are exposed to other experiences in the metro area including field trips to the National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medicine, Food and Drug Administration, the Smithsonian National Zoo, and CLASS Center at GWU School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
-
Through shadowing and hands-on learning opportunities, students experience the inner workings of a top-ranked pediatric hospital, hear from doctors and academics at the forefront of the biomedical field, and build skills that support their future academic and career goals.
Our Team
Our team is committed to cultivating the next generation of physicians, scientists, and researchers to contribute to the evolving field of neuroscience. By providing mentorship, training, and collaborative opportunities, we aim to support and inspire emerging talent to drive innovation within the neuroscience research workforce.
Our Students
Our students and fellows come from several high schools around the DMV where a commitment to the sciences is demonstrated through classwork, hands-on projects, and afterschool activities.
“The strengths of this program were the connections it has with different positions throughout the hospital, and showing how a diverse group of people work in different fields.”
“One strength of this program is the various options in the medical field one has and the resourceful connections you can make at the hospital.”
