Students

Are you a high school junior or senior at McKinley Tech, Oxon Hill, Washington Latin, Thurgood Marshall, Frederick Douglass or in a CTE/NAF program?
Are you passionate about biomedical science and STEM and know you want to dedicate your future studies and/or career to helping patients?
The application process is now open for summer 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a rising junior in a DCPS/DCPCS or PGCPS high school
  • Satisfy the criteria for URM disadvantaged background or disabled person as defined by the NIH PAR-15-184
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident

Application Components:

  1. Completed form (at link below)
  2. 1 to 2 page personal statement that details your interest in science/STEM/neuroscience and/or biomedical careers
  3. Your transcript
  4. 2 recommendation letters, one from your science teacher or STEM counselor, and one from a guidance counselor or another teacher

After applications close, a review committee will use a rubric to assess each of the parts of the application. In March, a smaller group of selected students (usually around 10-15) will be invited to participate in Interview Day. From there, final selections will be made, usually by the beginning of May.
